Core Physicians is Recognized for Quality Pediatric & Adult Primary Care

Core Physicians has been named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s 2010 Physician Group Honor Roll in recognition of quality excellence in both pediatric and adult primary care.

The recent honor is the third time in as many years that Core Physicians has been named to the Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll. Core Physicians has been named to the Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll three years in a row for excellence in preventative and chronic illness care for pediatric patients. In 2008 and 2010, the multi-specialty group practice was honored for their outstanding commitment to high quality care by physicians.

“I am thrilled that Core Physicians has been recognized for ongoing high quality health care,” said Allie Bonesho, MD, Core Pediatrician. “This award reflects the consistent daily efforts of our team of office staff, nurses, medical assistants, nurse practitioners and physicians, all working together to help families maintain the health and well being of their children.”

“This award is an unbiased look at the quality of care delivered by a tremendous group of people,” said Sean O’Neil, vice president of Organizational Excellence for Core Physicians. “Our team of health care providers’ primary focus and concern is keeping people healthy.”

“It is nice to be recognized for the opposite, for helping people stay well through preventative care, by such a respected player in the health care field as Harvard Pilgrim,” O’Neil said. “We have worked very hard to make the system of care our providers deliver the best that it can be while always keeping the patient at the forefront and this recognition affirms that our work in that area has paid off.”

The Harvard Pilgrim Physician Honor Roll program is part of the nonprofit health plan’s ongoing strategy to recognize and reward quality care. The Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll for adult and pediatric practices is based on performance against National Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, a tool used by more than 90 percent of the country’s health plans to measure their performance on important aspects of patient care and service. Core Physicians was ranked based on their exemplary record in the areas of well child visits, well adolescent visits, providing appropriate treatment for children with upper respiratory infections and for their response to chronic conditions in children such as asthma.  The data is reported through the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.

Harvard Pilgrim utilizes their review of the best performing practices to learn about physician group based strategies, tools and techniques to improve performance in managing quality. In addition, use of quality performance information is increasingly becoming a key tool for members to use in selecting a primary care physician.
