Patient Registration Process Simplified for Patients of Core Physicians

Patients of Core Physicians now have a simplified registration process when they go to Exeter Hospital for certain testing or procedures.

The standard consent for treatment form filled out by all Core Physicians patients now includes a portion in which they can give permission for Core to share basic information such as name, address and date or birth, along with insurance information with Exeter Hospital, explained Deb Burgess, Director of Patient Access for Exeter Hospital. Burgess noted that no health history or specific information about conditions or health issues is shared under this new consent policy.

“This prevents patients from having to fill out a new patient registration form every time they go to Exeter Hospital for a test or procedure,” Burgess explained. “Our hope is that this will make the whole process easier for patients as they are essentially pre-registered before they even arrive for their appointment.”

When a patient checks in for an appointment, they will be asked if all of their information is still current.

“We heard from patients of Core Physicians’ who were frustrated about having to provide all of their information every time they went to Exeter Hospital for an appointment,” Burgess said. “Now, those patients who give consent will simply give their name at the hospital and confirm that their information is still current when they arrive for an appointment, which will decrease their waiting time as well as time spent filling out paperwork.”

If any insurance or contact information has changed, it will be updated in not only the hospital system but the Core Physicians’ system as well. Certain situations, including hospital, surgical or emergency department admissions are not included in the consent.
