It was left to Vanessa to explain the next steps, so it's not fair to blame the messenger. After the rush to angiogram and the news that CBG was necessary (a minute explanation on the table at procedure's end), I had a week of (relatively) no information, which spooked me. I appreciated the referral to Portsmouth Hospital, but wanted the option to send the results to other surgeons. I also requested information about the referred surgeon's track record and training, but Vanessa was unable to provide it. It seemed that I was being difficult when I requested comparative information and more than the single referral. I recommend that Exeter Cardio fill in the week between procedure and follow-up with a more personal meeting with a social worker or psychologist to explain things and allay fears-reasonable fears-that arise when the rush to angiogram gives way to relative silence. The explanation of results was adequate, nonetheless.
