Whether you have an acute knee injury, a condition such as arthritis, or you are an athlete who needs to return to sports, our team of board certified, fellowship trained surgeons and orthopedic providers can help. We are co-located with a comprehensive physical, occupational and aquatic therapy program in the Center for Orthopedics & Movement on the Exeter Hospital campus. Our sports medicine team also includes trainers from the Athletic Performance Center of Exeter Hospital and a US Ski Team physician.

Our Knee Specialists

A. Neil Clerk, MD – Dr. Clerk is a board-certified physician in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his MD from the University of Chicago, where he also performed his Internship and Residency. He has traveled with the US Ski Team to provide medical coverage in New Zealand and Finland.


Roger Nowak, MD – Recognized by US News and World Report as a Top Doctor in Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Nowak is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Colby College and his MD from George Washington University. He performed his Internship and Residency at Albert Einstein University.


Thomas McGovern, MD – Dr. McGovern, a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon, has been performing joint preservation and replacement for more than 20 years. His joint replacement expertise includes engineer designing, researching implants and performing hip and knee replacement surgery at Exeter Hospital. Dr. McGovern achieved his MS in biomedical engineering at University of Virginia, his MD from Georgetown University Medical School.
