Dr. Joseph Bernard Now Recognized Concussion Management Specialist
Sports medicine specialist, Dr. Joe Bernard, recently received specialized training to become a credentialed ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) Consultant. The ImPACT concussion management tool is used by providers to assess when it is safe for an athlete to return to play after sustaining a concussion, helping reduce the chance of long-term injury. Developed by clinical experts who pioneered the field, ImPACT is the most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system used by providers, sports teams, and organizations world-wide.
A significant amount of research has been conducted in recent years pertaining to sports-related concussions and their long term effects on student athletes. As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Bernard will serve as a much needed treatment resource for local patients with suspected concussions and as an education resource for local schools and sports teams.
