Physiatry (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation)

Our Physiatrists specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation physicians are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move.

Physiatrists offer an aggressive non-surgical approach to a wide variety of disorders and injuries. They may see a person who lifts heavy objects at work and experiences neck or shoulder pain, a hockey player who injures their low back and needs rehabilitation to play again, or a computer programmer who complains of low back pain radiating to their leg while sitting at the computer for extended periods.

Our Physiatrists work very closely with neurosurgery, orthopedics, podiatry, sports medicine and other musculoskeletal specialists at the Center for Orthopedics and Movement to offer a collaborative approach to your care. For back and neck pain, our Spine Care Program is a great example of this approach.

Regenerative Medicine

Our Physiatrists also specialize in regenerative medicine to target musculoskeletal conditions. These treatments include cell based biologic therapy such as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections to help patients with chronic painful conditions. Regenerative medicine can target conditions such as painful lumbar disks, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, ligament injuries or muscle tears.
