Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)

Podiatrists at Core Physicians have introduced a new, innovative technology to treat acute or chronic muscle and tendon pain in the foot. The Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT) is the most advanced non-invasive treatment approved by the FDA; it uses pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate the healing process, allowing damaged tissue to regenerate and heal. Patients generally see results with 3-5 treatments, which take 5-10 minutes each.

EPAT presents an alternative to surgery with a similar success rate and virtually no risks or side effects. Patients often begin to feel relief after the first treatment. The long term success is due to the EPAT’s treatment of the cause of the pain, not just the symptoms. Podiatrists at Core Physicians will use this technology to treat foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and neuromas.

“We are excited to be able to offer this new technology to our patients,” said Podiatrist, Vasilios Lirofonis, DPM. “It will bring relief to podiatry patients for our most common ailments, and also has applications for potentially every other service at the Center for Orthopedics and Movement, including sports medicine.”
